「ONSEN RESORT ATAMI」

New Commemorative Stamps for Atami!
I was commissioned by Atami City to design and create two new “ONSEN RESORT ATAMI” commemorative stamps.
Each stamp is a large, 8 cm (3.1 in) hand-carved eraser stamp.
One features hot springs, the sea, fireworks, and plum blossoms.
The other depicts Atami’s hillside townscape as seen from the sea, along with waves and fireworks.
I packed some of Atami’s most distinctive scenery and motifs into these two small circles.
From the initial designs to the finished stamps, I created everything myself.
The tiny letters, buildings, waves, and fireworks were all carefully carved by hand.
I have lived in Atami for 13 years, making eraser stamps while calling this town my home.
It makes me very happy to have created something that can become part of the memories of people visiting Atami.
The stamps are now complete and have been delivered to Atami City!
You can find them at:
・Atami Tourist Information Center, 1F of LUSCA Atami at Atami Station
・Wakagaeru Station (Atami Tourism Association) in Shinsui Park
Please bring your notebook or a piece of paper to the counter and ask for the commemorative stamp. A staff member will stamp it for you.
If you’re visiting Atami, I hope you’ll take home a stamp as a little memory of your trip! 😄
For these photos, I took the finished stamps down to the seaside at Nagahama in Atami.
Seeing them against the familiar sea and mountains made me realize all over again: “Atami finally has the stamps I made.”
